Neuroinclusive Education Network (NEN) Training
The Neuroinclusive Education Network (NEN) is the new name for the Autism Education Trust (AET), now part of the National Autistic Society, providing evidence-based training and support to create inclusive educational environments for neurodivergent learners, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and Tourette’s, by building skills for educators to recognize and support diverse learning styles and needs.
What we provide
We are Lewisham’s licensed providers of the Neuroinclusive Education Network (NEN) Training Programme, education frameworks and resources packages for Early Years, Schools and Post-16 Provision.
The Neuroinclusive Education Network (NEN) training programmes support educators, leaders, and support staff to understand and respond to the specific difficulties neurodivergent children often experience within education. These may include sensory overload, transition, masking, demand avoidance, heightened anxiety, and difficulties with emotional regulation, which can impact attendance, engagement, and wellbeing, sometimes leading to school-based anxiety or anxious non-attendance.
Grounded in evidence-based practice and lived experience, the NEN programme offers a suite of focused training modules covering neurodiversity and identity, sensory processing differences, masking and burnout, demand avoidance, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), and trauma-informed, low-arousal approaches. Modules can be delivered as standalone CPD sessions or built upon sequentially to develop deeper understanding and sustained whole-setting change.
Participants gain actionable strategies to reduce sensory overload, recognise and respond to masking, support learners experiencing demand avoidance, and implement reasonable adjustments that promote emotional safety, autonomy, and belonging. Through whole-setting approaches and inclusive policy development, the programme supports sustainable neuroinclusive practice that improves engagement, wellbeing, and outcomes for all learners.
